![]() ![]() We will be using this Red Polymer Clay Rose Cane in part two of this tutorial. Reduce the cane down to the size you wish and you’ll now have a beautiful rose cane. Make sure you always move in the same direction. Continue around until you have used all your pieces. Start the next layer by placing the first piece over one of the seams. Take another piece and lay it under the end of the first piece and press it down. Take one of these pieces and place it around the jelly roll piece. Take the other pieces and flatten into flat semi circles. This will be the center of the rose cane - put it to the side. Take the first piece and flatten it and then pinch into a point on one side. Working with translucent polymer clay is a complete pleasure. Ceramic tiles can be had at any home improvement store though and work great for clay. Turn it into a Skinner blend plug starting from the dark side of the blend. Place on a tile, or you can use a tin foil covered cookie sheet. Then run the clay though your pasta machine to create a long, thin blend. Once you have your blend, fold it in half and in half again. For the Skinner Blend in this tutorial, use the four part blend cutter. To get this amount a single quarter bar section from the original block was cut in half. In the photo above you can see 1/8 sections of a block of Premo clay. The amounts of clay to use are discussed in proportions.
